My little man
It breaks my heart to see my baby grow up so fast. I wish I could just slow down the time and enjoy his sloppy kisses. Sooner or later he wouldn't want to be carried anymore, he wouldn't want me kissing him in public, he'll be going out with friends, go out on a date, move out. Awww... hahaha. I wish babies can be babies forever.

Anyone can cook
Remember Chef Gusteau's book 'Anyone can cook'? Well, apparently, I just proved it to be true.
I never really loved cooking. I am the one who used to wait while the mom cooks and I devour as much as I can. I never really liked the kitchen. At 20, I only know how to fry hotdogs and eggs.
But a lot of things have changed now.
Since we no longer have a household help, I just started learning how to cook real food last week. So expect to see simple dishes just enough to fill the tummies but won't necessarily satisfy the tastebuds. Hahaha
Excuse the food presentation, this is my first time. LOL
The verdict: They loved it. I'm starting to love the kitchen now. But I still hate cleaning up though. Ugh.

Football!
Went to play football with my buddies. it was hella fun! Never thought i'd play again after 5 years.
The first few drills were fine. Jogged about 8 laps and I'm surprised that we're able to surpass it.
But after a few minutes of a small 5-a-side game, we were already panting like mad. hahaha. Need to have that stamina again. >.<
My body's sore, I've got two large bruises and a cut on the knee. weeee! I missed this.
I will definitely play again next week. :)

I just can't throw a friend away
There's this one book that I have for more than a decade already. I had this since I was in high school.
I remember the day when randomly picked a book from a bookshelf in our school library, filled out my library card, and went home. I opened the book, started reading it, and for seven days it became my sleeping pill. It's a very small book, but it took me a week to finish it because I kept putting it down. And also most of the time, the book would send me to sleep. I did not appreciate it. I was 13 then.
Four years later, we were required to do a book report specifically on that same book. Since everyone was trying to borrow the book from the library, I decided to have my own copy. It was a quick read as some parts of the book is difficult for me to get through. I finished my book report and still, I did not appreciate it.
On my 3rd year in college, during our recollection while my friends and I were sharing our favorite stuff, a friend told me to read Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom. Of course, who would have not remembered it? I read it twice already. I just don't remember where in my room it sits, dusty and untouched.
I found it under the piles of my old school books that I am about to give away. It still looks as good as new albeit dusty. I grabbed it and I started reading it by heart. I read it slowly, tried to understand every sentence, every quote, every situation. I put the book down sometimes, not because I got bored, but because I reflect. I took notes. I wrote my favorite lines. Then I thought about it in a more profound way. For the third time, I finally got the message. Touched. Inspired. It was heartfelt. I absolutely loved it.
Hence, I recommended it to my friends. It was passed from one hand to another. And just yesterday, it was returned to me in this condition,
I should be disappointed but I'm not. I can actually buy a brand new one to put in my collection, but I did not. This book have been into many hands, and who knows, touched one's soul. This book has been a friend. I could not just throw it away.

Rhett's First Haircut
Rhett just got his first haircut today! Yay! Here in our country, there is a superstition that says a child's hair should not be cut until he reaches one. I don't know the reason why. And I don't have to find out as I never believed in superstitions anyway. His hair is already reaching almost to his eyes. So I have to cut it short.
I thought it's going to be a disaster. I've seen kids having their first haircut screaming and trying to get away as parents try to restrain them. But Rhett definitely loves it! I'm so proud of my little boy

2nd Digital Paint
Second attempt to digital painting. I think this isn't my forte. I haven't invested a lot of PATIENCE for this. I hope this wouldn't be my last, but I can see that it's already gearing towards that. Second attempt. Not bad, eh? But I know, I know. It still has a lot of flaws. Just look at the hair. LOL.

I eat pixels for breakfast
I am a rusty machine that never sleeps. I follow a boring routine. Wake. Eat. Work. Sleep. Repeat. The only part of the day that has a a lot of life is when I spend time with my son.
That has been my life ever since I graduated from college. Yes, I usually spend most of my time in front of the computer writing articles and mostly Photoshopping.
To others, my life seems so boring. Some would even say that I must get a life. But hey, I am actually doing something worthwhile, something that makes me happy, and it's something that I love.
And from that moment, I know they are wrong.
I have a life. This is how I chose to live my life. I am happy with it.
Anyway, enough of that drama-rama. Last week, I was able to make my first digital painting. And I like how it turned out. I still need a lot of practice though.

Of Stethoscopes and Keyboards
Eight years ago, when I was at the verge of choosing my career path, anything that has something to do with computers never crossed my mind. I disliked our computer subject in high school… you just don’t know how much I hated Visual Basic and Pascal Programming Language. I never liked staying in front of the computer. I barely lasted 15 minutes using it.
So I decided to take up Nursing because I did not know what I really want. Plus, it doesn’t have a lot of Math subjects. And it was so "uso" at that time. And I know a lot of friends who are going to take the course too. So I thought it should be fun.
Well, it was fun. I really had fun. But college was everything and I got astray a few times. But I found a road that led me to where I discovered my other potential.. something I most likely never thought about. Computers.
I never thought that I would ever love computers. I used to detest computers because R used to spend more time with computers than me. He had a good excuse though - he’s a Computer Science student. I used to watch him play which I didn’t find interesting… or so I thought.
But when my fingers started flinging with the keyboard and the mouse, I became unstoppable. Blame friendsterdotcom - it is the sole reason why I suddenly became addicted to computers. I made love with it that I could no longer last a day without logging in. Yes, it WAS that addicting.
I became a mouse-potato. I’ve learned more about the internet, and things started to become interesting. Then I got hooked to online and LAN games. I spent more than 3 hours per day in front of the computer. And it gradually increased to an alarming state - more than 15 hours in just one sitting. Will only get up to grab a food or a drink, or when nature calls.
From online games, I learned about website building. In our EDP (which I can't remember what it means) class, we were tasked to build a website about ourselves. And I found it interesting. Very interesting. Aside from the fact that I was so over obsessed with myself that it was such a fulfilling feeling for me to tell the world about me, colors that I like, books that I read, music that I listen to and sh*t things people don't really care about. Building a website about me, why not? I said hello to HTML then.
Few months later, I started blogging. And still it was all about me. That kept my interest to the internet fueled. Then came the time when I have to learn how to make my own pictures for my website. I was introduced to Adobe Photoshop 7.0. And I fell in love with it at first use. Then I started studying by myself. Spent hours for online tutorials, spent more hours exploring, experimenting, and learning every tool. Not only that I enjoy photo manips and graphic designs, but I started earning from that hobby too. I used my amateur photoshop skills to earn in-game currencies on the games that I played online. I do commissions. I get paid. And I’m loving it. Rawr.
So what happened to my nursing course? Hmmm... I survived college. But did not really pursue it.
But now, I have a job. And my job requires me to spend hours in front of my laptop. Well, I don’t really call it a job. Let’s just say, I’m getting paid for doing what I like.
I’m making a living and at the same time living a life for doing what I want. I am happy and I want to let it stay that way. :-)
The nurse in me is still in a deep slumber… and maybe, just maybe, it will just awaken when the right time comes.

25 random facts about me
Got tagged in facebook. Had fun reading some of my friends' random facts. So, I might as well make one too. :D
Fast, fun facts you might want to know about me:
1. I got bitten by my pet tarantula. Got fever and a numb left arm 30 minutes after for two days and never told anybody about it. haha
2. Tarantulas don’t scare me, FROGS do (especially those warty, brown/green big ones.. ugh stay away!)
3. I am always late. I flunked a major subject because of my accumulated tardiness. xD
4. I love football. Enough said.
5. I choose gadgets and gizmos over clothes and fashion apparels.
6. I hate Twilight. I’ve read the book once, wasn’t even able to finish it. Not a single movie watched. And yet, for some reasons I hate it. Maybe i’m just not into sparkling vampires that watch you sleep at night, that’s creepy.
7. I have a big appetite. I can eat five cups of rice when I am hungry. Normal meals, I have 2 cups or 3
.
8. I dig into fantasy novels. No Twilight please.
9. I am ambidextrous. I can write well with my left and right hand.
10. If procrastinating is an art, then I am truly a gifted artist.
11. I’m not a TV person. So don’t ask me about the latest updates on tv shows because I can’t answer you anything.
12. I can’t consume an 8-ounce coke. If I do, it would take me an hour to sip it to the last drop.
13. I’m one of the boys. I grew up playing on the streets with the boys around my neighborhood. I chose kite, guns and cards over barbie dolls.
14. I have a fetish for caps. I actually have a hundreds of them. And I’m not exaggerating.
15. I love to dress up… but only when the situation calls for it. Shirt, jeans and sneakers are my thing.
16. I don’t sleep much. I only get around 3 hours of sleep per day and I’m fine with that. Funny how I find it ironic, that during my college days I sleep in class most of the time.
17. I love animals. I always watch videos of animals on youtube. The animals never cease to amaze me. NatGeo and Discovery Channel will always be my favorites.
18. I barely use my phone. If it is not something important, I don’t reply. So don’t bother.
19. I love street food! Hepa on a stick. E.coli on a cup. Yum!
20. I buried a time capsule when I was 9. All my shining jolens(marbles), ‘tex’ cards, pog, my favorite takyan and my pambatong trumpo (top) are inside that big can of Nido. Which is now irretrievable because our lot is already completely covered with concrete.
21. I love the outdoors and I want to conquer the peak of the majestic Mt. Apo, AGAIN!
22. I am a big Harry Potter fan.
23. “When I grow up I want to be a teacher” – my (infamous) ambition when I was in Kinder. Then I took up Nursing. But I ended up being a writer and graphics designer.
24. I’d like to set up a room full of terrariums one day. It would be great if I had all the species of tarantulas.
25. I love to travel. If I have the money and I could have it my way, I would just like to take a year off and just travel the world. Someday… one day.. I will.
